Dr. Akamu Jude Ewunkem

Dr. Ewunkem is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, Winston Salem State University. His current research is focused on natural products, nanomaterials as antimicrobials in mitigating antimicrobial resistance crisis and Genomics of adaptation.

Research Focus

I am interested in how natural products and nanoparticles can be used as antimicrobials to fight multidrug resistance pathogens and to analyze cellular mechanisms that underline their antimicrobial activities. Furthermore, I utilize Whole Genome Sequencing to determine genomic changes associated with resistance.
